El pasado jueves, 6 de marzo de 2025, nuestro alumnado de 2º de ESO se lanzó a la conquista de Córdoba en una jornada llena de historia, curiosidades y hasta un toque de misterio. Con la mochila a cuestas y muchas ganas de aprender, recorrieron la icónica Mezquita-Catedral en una visita organizada por el profesor Juan Jesús Pérez Marcos, del Departamento de Geografía e Historia. ¿El reto? Descubrir los secretos de este impresionante monumento… ¡en español e inglés!
El viaje en el tiempo comenzó en los restos de la Basílica visigoda de San Vicente, donde los estudiantes pudieron imaginar cómo era este espacio antes de la construcción de la mezquita. Luego, avanzaron por la majestuosidad de la mezquita musulmana, asombrándose con sus interminables arcos rojiblancos y las historias de los califas que la engrandecieron. Y, como buen final de película, la ruta culminó en la catedral cristiana, donde exploraron cómo el monumento se transformó tras la Reconquista. La guinda del pastel la puso el emblemático Patio de los Naranjos, donde el alumnado se detuvo a contemplar sus bellas puertas, fuentes y el imponente campanario.
Pero la aventura no terminó ahí. Córdoba nos guardaba más sorpresas: un recorrido exprés por su pasado romano y judío. ¿Sabías que la ciudad fue una de las más importantes de la Hispania romana? Nuestros exploradores sí, y lo recordaron mientras paseaban por sus calles históricas. Y para cerrar la jornada con broche de oro, nos despedimos de Córdoba con un paseo sobre su legendario puente romano, dejando atrás una ciudad que nos hizo viajar por los siglos en solo un día.
Sin duda, una experiencia inolvidable para nuestro alumnado del IES Auringis, que ahora puede presumir de haber sido testigo de la historia en vivo y en directo. ¡Hasta la próxima aventura!
On Thursday, 6th March 2025, our 2º ESO students embarked on an exciting journey through time in the historic city of Córdoba. With backpacks ready and a thirst for knowledge, they explored the iconic Mosque-Cathedral on a visit organised by History teacher Juan Jesús Pérez Marcos. The challenge? To uncover the secrets of this breathtaking monument… in both Spanish and English!
The time-travelling adventure kicked off at the remains of the Visigothic Basilica of San Vicente, where students imagined how the site looked before the construction of the mosque. Then, they stepped into the mesmerising world of the Muslim mosque, marvelling at its endless red-and-white arches and the tales of caliphs who expanded its glory. And as the grand finale, they explored the Christian cathedral, witnessing how the monument transformed after the Reconquista. The perfect finishing touch? A moment to soak in the beauty of the Orange Tree Courtyard, admiring its magnificent doors, fountains, and the towering bell tower.
But the adventure didn’t end there! Córdoba had more surprises in store—a whirlwind tour of its Roman and Jewish heritage. Did you know the city was one of the most important in Roman Hispania? Our young explorers do now, after walking its historic streets and reliving its past. And to top off the day, we bid farewell to Córdoba with a stroll across its legendary Roman bridge, leaving behind a city that allowed us to travel through centuries in just one day.
Without a doubt, an unforgettable experience for our students at IES Auringis, who can now proudly say they have witnessed history come to life. Until the next adventure!
